if you have an ehd it doesn't take long.
before I reformat sucks.
This is taking ages cos I gotta take all my save games with me, arghhhh.

Ehd = external hdd? Still took long. Slowwww transfer rates. Installing windows again now..

of course using an 'ehd' takes long to do backups
usb = slow
i prefer to backup to an ihd
it's a laptop i kinda have to :X
but hey reformat done (although it fucked up first time cos I left USB mouse plugged in) so I had to do it again cos it just hung on "Completing installation".
OH WELL, time to reinstall everything and update drivers etc etc etc
I had W7 on it before, so.. yeah.
Windows 7 = <3
Wonder how many reboots i'll have to do until everything is back to norm.
I just use a laptop drive and plug it in (inside) whenever I want to backup. It works perfectly well, takes about 10 seconds to plug in and obviously the transfer speeds are very fast.![]()
I just had to go through the tedious process of backing everything up off my laptop too to prepare for my trade in. The night before the switch was going to happen, my external hard drive had a catastrophic failure/data loss (WD MyBook 500GB - quality stuff) so I had to do it all over again. Thank god it didn't happen after the switch. I bought a new 1TB one anyways for cheaper than I originally bought the 500GB one for, lol.
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancin' in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
I've been using a 320gb seagate external hdd for the past 4 years? Cost £90 at the time.
i've never done a backup![]()
What an idiot. XP is outdated and insecure compared to W7...
Fire, your friend is a tard
On the sort of topic of hard drives, god damn they are so CHEAP now. I just want to buy like ten 2tb just for the fuck of it because of the prices. Amazing how some hardware prices have been changing. Although the RAM market prices still fluctuates way too often.

My avatar br rip isn't even the best quality and it's like 10gb.
Looks fucking amazing though..
I might download avatar in blueray later now, thanks danny.
I should backup my stuff. I would cry if any of my HDs failed.
But backing up 2.5TB is effort.
I might just buy 4 2TB drives and set up RAID5 so I have 6TB of storage and can recover from a drive failure.
4x2=8 mitch
i'm aware of that... however:
(4-1)*2=6
raid5 uses one drive for parity
Oh.
Times like this I regret not keeping up to date in the hardware / tech world. The last time I actually knew stuff was before sata / raid even was around.
You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack... It grew by one. So there... There were two of us in the wolf pack... I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug... joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, "Wait a second, could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!
RAID had been around for a long time mark.
Yeah I know, but I havent paid attention to computers in a long time. I built a computer in about 2003 and since then I havent really followed hardware advances. Yeah Sata was around then I think cause I had a sata hd in my comp, but it was new. as for raid, i dunno if it was around then but if it was i dont remember.
whatever just dont call me out danny!
