FREEMASONS RUN THE COUNTRY
I remember ages ago the union at my work balloted its members to see if they wanted to scrap time and a half on Sundays in exchange for a pay-off (which you only got if you were contracted Sundays anyway). About 90% voted against such an idiotic motion, but the union still went and agreed to it anyway, so no more time and a half on Sundays!
I've just never understood the point of the vote, if you're going to ignore the result anyway![]()
I watched the episode of Have I Got News For You yesterday with Bob Crow going on about Ian Hislop going to Oxford, and eating lots of Lobsters, when he himself gets paid £105k as the leader of the Transport Union.
...
I <3 ian hislop
FREEMASONS RUN THE COUNTRY
Bow Crow reminds me so much of Nick Griffin.
when he talks about solidarity with foreign workers and concentrating on the world as a whole rather than just our little bit of it? not very nick griffin
FREEMASONS RUN THE COUNTRY
I'm in unison and they were supposed to stop our breaks getting cut from half an hour to 15 mins unless they agreed to give us a staff room and they didn't do anything. i'm pretty sure unison screwed us over on pay too at one bit.
i'm biding my time to use them against my manager but i'm pretty sure when i do anyway they'll not be much use.
But darling I want the same thing that I wanted before.
So sweetheart tell me what's up? I won't stop, no way..
i think most unions are illegal in NC, or they just don't operate here.
oh no they're just really weak. NC is a "right to work" state
Right-to-work laws are statutes enforced in twenty-two U.S. states, mostly in the southern or western U.S., allowed under provisions of the Taft-Hartley Act, which prohibit agreements between trade unions and employers making membership or payment of union dues or "fees" a condition of employment, either before or after hiring.
my answer? fuck em! Theyre the reason why trades people have stupidly high salaries and benefits and still its not enough because people are greedy. So what do they do when noone gives into their often outrageous demands? they vote, go on strike and fuck people over. A couple years ago all the bus drivers in my city went on a bus strike (my city is largely dependant on the transport system). They went on strike for like 3 months. I saw old people walking in the fucking snow, in frigid temperatures just to get their groceries. People failed their exams cause they couldnt make it to school, people lost their jobs cause they couldnt get to work, it was mayhem. All because those asshole bus drivers wanted better pay, (they make 65,000 dollars a year) and shifts that were more convenient for them. All because of their stupid union. There were people lined up to drive those busses and replace those bus drivers at a compensation rate of HALF that 65 grand
just thinking about it makes my blood boil

im not dumb im just choosing not to be smart at the moment
WHATS A UNION?
i agree that is stupid and greedy. that isn't what trade unions should be used for.
i only want to use my trade union to help me in disciplinaries and things like that. the main thing i'm going to use mine for i feel will be to fight against the lack of health and safety & problems with procedures not being followed.
