i'm just gonna bitch about life for a moment

so my application for study abroad is due friday and i'm having a few incredibly frustrating issues with it. one of my professors who agreed to write an academic reference for me hasn't turned it in yet, and has ignored my emails this summer reminding him about it, so that's a bit stressful. now i come to find out that apparently i'm missing a ton of stuff with my application, even though i included everything ISEP (a study abroad organization) asked for. but now there are forms specific to my uni i need to turn in, oh and i was informed that i probably need to redo my whole application because it should have been typed up on the PDF even though it says it can be handwritten. so now i'm having to make a rush trip to the city my uni is in tomorrow, a two hour drive from home, when i don't have a car so i have to borrow my stepmom's for the day on short notice.

also it's 5:35pm and my UPS package isn't here yet which probably means it isn't coming today even though ITS ON THE GODDAMN TRUCK ACCORDING TO THEIR SITE.

also i'm having health issues.

also our washer broke so now i have to go to the laundromat tonight, except so does everyone else so we're making a FAMILY TRIP to the laundromat and most of the time we make a family trip anywhere i want to shoot myself in the face.

Urgh that really sucks.

Start emailing other professors to see if you can get a last minute reference from them! It sucks when people don't respond immediately over summer. If that fails then turn up at their office and ask in person.

UPS - no advice there courier companies suck.

Laundry - just suck it up I guess.

thanks emma, i don't even know any other professors to ask let alone get them to do it in one day. it's kinda absurd how early i have to have this in to my uni when ISEP doesn't require the application until the first of september, and my friend at another uni in north carolina doesn't have to have her stuff in until the 27th.

the UPS guy came at 6pm so that worked out well.

laundry ended up being just me and my dad so that was good. though i drove and ran a yellow light which led to a prolonged argument on running yellow lights.

If it's just a uni deadline then there might be some room to negotiate on it if you explain your circumstances. If I was you I would just turn up at your faculty building/offices, speak to a secretary/receptionist, explain the situation and see if they can know a way to contact the original professor.

If that fails then I'd ask if they know of any professors who may be willing and who are on campus. Bring any results/transcripts that you have and be prepared to argue your case.

Also - have you tried contacting the original professor any way other than by email? Does he have an office phone number you could contact him on?

i'm at uni now, i found the prof in his office and i felt bad because he said he hasn't got to it "because he's been so fucking busy" and he seemed really flustered. but he said he'd get it in tomorrow so all is well on that front.

more bitching, it's absurdly hot out and i hate lugging around this laptop. i'm the only one on this floor except for some guy behind me who's just staring out the window.
