Where to get them
Subtitles are available in a number of places - they're legal and they're free. A few places that have them are:
How to use them
With files on your hard drive
Right, theres a few things you'll needAnd how to use them
- A player that supports subtitles - just for ease, i'm gonna reccomend VLC
- Your movie file
- The subtitles file
With a DVD
- To get them working is easy, first of all, move your movie file into the same folder as the subtitles file
- Make a note of the movies file name - just for the example, i'm gonna call it Movie.avi
- Rename your subtitles file in accordance to the movie one - for example, using Movie.avi, you have to change the subtitles file name to Movie.srt (if you have extensions hidden, which is default in Windows, your movie file will appear as Movie, and you have to change your subtitles file name into Movie
- Last - but not least - open the file in VLC by either dragging it ontop or going to file > open - the subtitles should play automatically
- If they don't, it's just as easy to get going. go to file > open advanced - please note, you can skip the above steps and just do this instead if you'd prefer
- Under files selection, click add, then add your movie file
- Tick the 'Use a subtitles file' box
- Click browse under the subtitles heading, then find your subtitles file
- Press play and you're all set
- Grab your popcorn and your oversized coke and enjoy the film
This is possible, but i'll have to write it up when i'm on Windows unless someone else wants to have a crack at it![]()

You can rip files to your hard drive and i've okayed it with Mark
Now, if you think I promoted piracy then please point out whereI didn't tell people where to download files, nor even mention piracy. On top of that, the film club isn't just about commercial films - independent, free and opensource films could be posted too and they wont all be in english.
